Brief Summary:

BRIEF SUMMARY

From the Author’s website:

THE SHIFT IS COMING. SOON.

Dr. David Carter knows this. However, he’s a geologist, so ’soon’ means anywhere from tomorrow to a thousand years from now.

PEOPLE ARE DYING. NOW.

Drs. Jordan Abellard and Jillian Brookwood are standing at the edge of SuperAIDS. Or are they? They won’t be able to figure it out if they can’t get some authorization signed – and soon. But they’re peons and no one is paying attention. That means no one will notice a little forgery either, right?

WHOLE SPECIES DIED AT THE LAST POLAR SHIFT. 65 MILLION YEARS AGO.

Right now Dr. Becky Sorenson has some seriously mutated frogs in her lab. In L.A. Bees are making abnormal columns on the side of the freeways. In Georgia, birds are migrating out of season. It all makes a sick kind of sense when the doctors consider that the last magnetic shift is strangely coincidental to the dinosaur die-out. And the only similarity among the problems today is that each is occurring in a ‘hotspot’ – a pocket of reversed polarity that tells them all.

THE SHIFT IS ALREADY HERE.

Also about the format of the book:

WHAT IS AN AUDIOMOVIE?

AN AUDIOMOVIE IS AN UNABRIDGED AUDIO RECORDING OF A NOVEL, ENHANCED BY SOUNDTRACK, SOUND EFFECTS, AND UNIQUE ACTORS FOR EACH PART. THIS RECREATES THE EXPERIENCE OF A THEATER WHILE REMAINING TRUE TO THE BOOK BY LEAVING THE VISUALS UP TO THE LISTENER’S IMAGINATION.

Personal Review:

PERSONAL REVIEW

A book that is not only a thriller, but also a book that challenges your perceptions of the world, reality and possibility.

My first audiomovie by A.J. was an excellent one. The format is definitely the way Audiobooks are headed and I approve. Each character in the book has a unique actor for the vocals and there are subtle sound effects in the background that add to the overall experience of the novel. I find myself leaning towards this format. In the beginning I did not think I would enjoy different characters or sound effects but grew to love them. (See my previous post on this and Delson Armstrong’s series here)

Talk about turning your world upside down! North is South and South is North. It’s coming, and the last time it happened was when the dinosaurs became extinct. A parallel world and shifting between the two. This was not a book to listen to when you don’t want to pay attention. I stopped the audio quite often and let my mind wander on some of the aspects and details that A.J. painted in my head.

The main characters were awesome with voices similar to what I would have conjured up on my own (Tough sarcastic guy, Deep voiced doctor, sweet innocent southern girl, etc…) and the sound effects did not once distract me from the dialogue.

I could not wait to get the next book by Scudiere playing and get on the road!
