Brief Summary:

Continuing the story of Alex’s race to his destiny, he is searching for the Elemental King. The dark Lord Anaxagora does his best to return and stop the Falsifier from completing his task. A clash for the ages between the Vampiric regime and the Humans takes place on Earth and the Moon causing chaos and political upheaval in both parties.

Personal Review:

Red Serpent: The Elemental King picks up where The Prophet’s Secrets left off.

Armstrong continues his epic novel with Alex trying to communicate with the Elemental King. Alex takes his position in the political party and struggles internally with his views of right and wrong, democracy and dictatorship, and who he has known as allies and how that differs from what he has discovered in his visions.

The head of the Vampiric regime is due back any day, and as his return approaches Alex’s powers grow and his connection to the Dark Lord strengthens. Only the Dark Lord knows how strong Alex will become and just how instrumental he is in the future of the world.

Again I must emphasize as in the first two installments of this epic: The supporting cast of villains, vampires, humans, and creatures are all written superbly and invoke the right amount of emotion in the story, main character and reader to build on every plot and sub-plot Armstrong has dreamt up.

The battles in this book are amazing. One-on-one sword battles supplemented with energy blasts and levitation, large-scale army clashes with energy shields and trans-mutating vampires with regeneration abilities, scores of werewolves and bravery that knows no bounds. Some battles I could clearly visualize as if they were happening, with McCarley voicing them perfectly.

The recording was again excellent with Kyle McCarley and Laura Stahl doing an amazing job vocalizing Delson’s book. I have grown to enjoy these narrators and find myself looking forward to some of the quirkier voices as they keep the characters distinct, and sometimes lighthearted.

I cannot wait until the fourth audiobook is released!
